DELANEAU

The great tradition of DeLaneau watches began in 1880 where many other great watchmaking ventures began – in Switzerland.  DeLaneau was began in 1880 in the Swiss town of Biel.  The company was launched during the era where jewels were particularly popular.  This was reflected in the DeLaneau watches that were manufactured, especially during that time period.  However, DeLaneau watches continue to rely largely on the themes of jewels and elegance.  Over the course of the next century, this tradition remained largely consistent.  However, in the latter part of the 20th century, DeLaneau readdressed the themes of jewels and how exactly they contributed to the design of the DeLaneau watches.  During the course of the company’s reexamination, they determined that the use of jewels should be taken even further.  As a result, DeLaneau watches began to appear on the market that were even more bold in color and design.  These DeLaneau watches specifically utilized jewels and other precious metals and stones to enhance the overall quality of the entire watch collection.  The company’s headquarters are currently located in Geneva.

The DeLaneau Legacy

Though not among the largest of the Swiss watch manufacturers, DeLaneau watches have become synonymous with elegant, simple style.  There are a number of ways that DeLaneau ensures that this legacy continues on.  One way is through the unique enamel painting process that is administered to each and every DeLaneau watch.  Each timepiece is coated with two layers of white enamel to form a base.  After the rest of the enamel layers have been carefully applied, a clear enamel is then coated onto the DeLaneau watch as a finish.  In the end, there are typically around 20 layers that go into the creation of the watch.  DeLeneau also utilizes careful engraving and stone setting processes to ensure the quality of each and every watch.

The DeLaneau Collection

There are two primary collections offered by the DeLaneau watch company.  There is the core collection, which features five different designs.  There is also the private collection, which features an additional three DeLaneau watch designs.  There are several variations of each particular design within the collections.  For example, the first model in the core collection is the Marlene.  Though each design in the Marlene model features a unique rectangular face with a cover that slides over it, there are several different bands available.  There is a model with yellow gold band available, which matches the yellow gold case that the watch is encased in.  It also features a combination of diamonds and rubies.  A different Marlene model features the same yellow gold case, but with a crocodile band. Another DeLaneau watch from the core collection is the uniquely designed Butterfly model, which features an intricately created face that is shaped to resemble that of a butterfly.  Like the Marlene, the Butterfly design features a common face, but several available options in regards to setting and band.  Consumers can purchase the DeLaneau Butterfly watch set in diamonds or encased in a white gold case and mounted on a ribbon of satin.
