HARRY WINSTON

Born in 1896, Harry Winston built a name for himself crafting fine jewelry.  His legacy was especially cemented through his innovative use of diamonds.  His jewelry business began when he was able to acquire the jewelry collection of Arabella Huntington, who was the wife of railroad tycoon Henry Huntington.  Winston took the collection he had bought and then redesigned many of the jewels to help modernize and update them.  Winston’s superb use of diamonds and jewels led the company to begin competing in the luxury watch market.  Harry Winston watches are famous for combining fine jewels and innovative timepieces.  The Harry Winston company launched its first line of watches in 1989.

The Harry Winston Legacy

Even though Harry Winston passed away in 1978, his legacy continues to live on today.  Not only does the company continue to craft some of the finest jewelry on the market, Harry Winston watches are widely sought by those seeking the ultimate luxury timepiece.  When it comes to selecting jewels for Harry Winston watches and jewelry, the company always considers the “four Cs.”  First, the company ensures that the jewel is cut properly – that it isn’t too deep or too shallow.  The next factor considered when making Harry Winston watches is the carat of the stone.  Sometimes, simple carat size isn’t enough to base a decision on, which means that the company must also keep in mind the other “three Cs.”  The third thing that the Harry Winston company looks at when selecting a jewel is the clarity of the stone.  Finally, the color of the jewel is factored in.  The Harry Winston watch division recently received an added boost, when the company opened a new manufacturing facility in Geneva, Switzerland.  Ever since they were first created, Harry Winston watches have been considered to be at the forefront of innovation and style.  As a result, the popularity of Harry Winston watches has continued to soar.  The new manufacturing facility will employ 100 people and produce all aspects of the watches (except for the dials).

The Harry Winston Collections
