Boucheron watches have made a name for themselves as the epitome of luxury and style. Frenchman Frederic Boucheron was born into a family that was involved in the textile business. Instead of following in their footsteps, he opted to apprentice with Jules Chaise, who was a renowned jeweler. In 1858, Frederic Boucheron founded the House of Boucheron, a French jewelry house, near the Palais Royal. Boucheron earned a name for himself as an innovator amid the jewelry world. Specifically, he was the first jeweler to open on the Place Vendome and also was very successful with diamond engraving. After making a name for himself in the jewelry world, Boucheron began offering a line of watches, which has also become a brand known for its luxury and style. His contributions to the watchmaking world have since been numerous. He created the first jewelry watch bracelets and invented the interchangeable invisible clasp bracelet. He also won awards at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867 and 1889.
The Boucheron Legacy
Through the years, Boucheron watches have continued to be a symbol of luxury and innovation. One feature currently being used at Boucheron is the GP 4000 caliber, which is an automatic winding mechanical movement that features of a dimension of 11 ½ lines. The movement is extremely complicated and was inspired by the traditional, diamond-shaped hallmark with the name of the brand. In addition, Boucheron is responsible for the Ronde watch collection, which is considered to be among the company’s classic designs. Many notable celebrities have worn jewelry from Boucheron, including actresses Jodie Foster and Eva Longoria.
The Boucheron Collections
There are four primary collections of Boucheron watches on the market today. Each collection features a variation of the base design, but all are luxurious and crafted with the utmost care. The second popular Boucheron watch line is the New Reflet Collection, which features a rectangular face. It is forged from metal, gold, or steel (depending on the individual model) and is paved in diamonds. The Reflet was originally launched in 1946 and has been a solid staple of the Boucheron watch line since then. The New Reflet Collection offers timepieces for men and women. The collection also offers the Reflet watch Chatelaine, a unique bracelet watch that features a yellow gold cable chain and a face that is sprinkled with diamonds. The third Boucheron watch line is the MEC Collection, which offers timepieces that are a cross between sporty and elegant. The face of the watches in the MEC Collection are uniquely shaped.
